Commercial Policy

Commercial Policy 2013:

 In its continuous effort to consolidate and strengthen its leading position in the regional media scene, AMS is pleased to inform you about the commercial policy applied in 2013 for MBC1, MBC2, MBC3, MBC4,MBC Action MBC MAX ,MBC Drama,and Al Arabiya.

Advertising breaks:
1. Max. 12 minutes of advertising per hour
2. Max. 4 breaks / hour
3. Max.3 min. / break
4. 15% Premium for break selection
5. 15% Premium for spot position selection

Grid structure:
 1. Color Scheme: 3 color codes across grids:
 a. Red & Green: For peak viewing programs.
 b. Yellow: For off-peak viewing programs.

 2. Client Incentive:
a. Ranging from 10 to 70% as per below tables for each station based on committed budgets
b. Collection of incentive from paid spots is applicable in red,green & yellow programs.
c. Redemption of incentive collected from paid spots is applicable in green & yellow programs only.

3. Net rate card is applicable
4. Advance payment policy 

Sponsorship Rules & Guidelines:
1. General Guidelines
a. A minimum of 14 promotional appearances per week.
b. Deadline for application on screen: 5 working days from receipt of full material.

 2. Solo sponsor: on MBC,MBC Drama & Arabiya
a. Opening / Closing credits: 10” with sponsor's music and voice over
b. Break Bumper: 5” with sponsor's music and voice over (Only Break In)
c. Promotional trailer: 3” still logo only (Illustrator high resolution material required).
d. Interactive promo: 3” still logo only (Illustrator high resolution material required).

3. Multi sponsors: on MBC1,MBC Drama & Arabiya
a. Opening credits: 6” per sponsor with sponsor's music and voice over excluding “this program is brought to you ..."
b. Break Bumper: 3” per sponsor with animation & without voice over.(Only Break In) 
c. Promotional trailer: 3” still logo only (Illustrator high resolution material required)
d. Schedule of logo appearance will be based on first come first served basis

4. Solo sponsor: on MBC 2, MBC3, MBC4, MBC ACTION MBC MAX
a. Opening / Closing credits: 10” with sponsor's music and voice over excluding “this program is brought to you ..." b. Break Bumper: 5” with sponsor's music and/or voice over.(Only Break In)
c. Promotional trailer: 5” animated visual with music and/or voice over
d. Interactive promo: 5” animated visual with music and/or voice over

5. Multi sponsors: on MBC3, MBC4, MBC ACTION
a. Opening/Closing credits: 6” per sponsor with sponsor's music and voice over excluding “this program is brought to you ..."
b. Break Bumper: 3” per sponsor with animated visual with music and/or voice over.(Only Break In)
c. Promotional trailer: 3” animated visual with music and/or voice over
d. Schedule of logo appearance will be based on first come first served basis

PS: Muted material on MBC2, MBC3, MBC4, & MBC ACTION MBC MAX will not be accepted.

 

Technical Specifications

MBC GROUP TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION FOR COMMERCIAL MATERIAL

1) MEDIA
 • All commercials must be delivered on Digi beta (PAL) video cassettes or if that is not available, analogue Beta SP (PAL) video cassette will also be accepted. Each commercial must be on its own individual tape. We cannot accept compilation tapes.

2) VISION
• MBC Group only transmits in 4x3 aspect ratio. All commercials must be 4 x 3 aspect.
 • A 14 x 9 letterbox shape within a 4 x 3 raster is acceptable.

3) AUDIO
 • MBC Group transmits in stereo.

 • Commercials may be delivered with stereo on tracks 1&2 (1=L, 2=R) or with full final mix on tracks 1&2 (dual mono). In either case both audio tracks must be in phase.

 • The maximum level allowed is +8db. Where 0db is defined by a 1KHz signal of 774mV feeding a load of 600ohm. So 8dbs above this is the maximum.

 • On a PPM 0dbs corresponds to 4, +8dbs corresponds to 6 on a PPM

• If the signal gets any bigger then it may get distorted by equipment (DA’s, Satellites etc) that are designed to work only within this range.

 • The audio should be free of any impairment (buzz, noise, etc...)
 
4) MISCELLANEOUS
 • All commercials should have continuous and matching LTC and VITC time code throughout the material, and for a minimum of two minutes before and after it. The VITC should be on lines 19 and 21 and field 2 lines 332 and 334 of the video signal. VITC on other lines is not compatible.

• All commercials should be preceded by a VT clock of at least 10 seconds. The last 3 seconds of the VT countdown should be both black and mute

 • All items should have start of picture at TC 10:00:00:00

 • All items should end of a freeze frame of 10 seconds
